Tastily X Chefs In Schools meal collab
We are very excited to announce that our meals in collaboration with our charity partner Chefs in Schools are now available, and they are delicious!
Back in June, we headed to Hackney School of Food to cook up a storm with Head Food Educator and chef, Tom Walker, and a class from Mandeville Primary School at the Hackney School of Food. Our Founder Will and our Head Chef, Steve, taught the kids about the process behind creating a delicious Tastily dish, before letting them loose to create dishes of their own inspired by their favourite meals, Jerk Chicken and Mac Cheese! We then worked closely with Chef Tom to develop these dishes further before adding them to our menu for our customers to enjoy.
Here are the three new meals:
Meaty Mac n Cheese: Made with wheat macaroni, coated in a rich creamy cheese sauce of both extra mature cheddar and Italian hard cheese. Topped with rich salty ham hock, peas and sweet leeks then finished with a crunchy sprinkle of pumpkin, sunflower, and black onion seeds for an extra boost of flavour.
Veggie Mac n Cheese: Made with whole wheat macaroni, coated in a rich creamy cheese sauce of both extra mature cheddar and Italian hard cheese. Topped with peas, sweet leeks, and roasted peppers, courgettes and onions then finished with a crunchy sprinkle of pumpkin, sunflower, and black onion seeds for an extra boost of flavour.
Jerk Chicken: Inspired by Jerk recipes from Jamaica, it is marinated overnight in ginger, garlic, scotch bonnet, thyme, allspice, and lime and then roasted on high to give it a good char. Served with coconut rice and peas (these peas are actually beans!) and roasted red onion, sweet potato, pineapple, and plantain.
Not only did the kids take the role of a chef for the day, but they also put their design skills to work and created the designs on the packaging!
