What's the deal with your ready meal?

Our roots

Our Tastily founder, Will, was a New Yorker. Well all of two whole years. However this was more than enough time for him to discover the benefits of a meal subscription service.

Now we could go on about how much weight he lost and how he found mental clarity, or even how much better he felt by not producing any food waste, but we're not. What we will say is that he recognised there was a need for a company like Tastily in the UK.

After arriving back to London a week into Lockdown, Will created a ready meal subscription service, yes a ready meal, that caters for food lovers who are short on time.

Our passion

We're passionate about health, nutrition, sustainability, offering the best customer service, being transparent, creating affordable meals,
bla, bla, bla.

Actually at the top of our passion list lies taste. And taste shouldn't be kept for Friday nights, sunny Saturdays or a lazy slow cooked Sunday. Taste should be available midweek with only 3 minutes spare to cook a meal.

But don't take our word for it, give us a try. Our service delivers on taste, nutrition, sustainability and affordability. Oh and we also deliver to anywhere in the UK for free.

A message from our founder

Tastily was designed with the you, the customer, in mind… mainly because the customer is me. Everything you see from the seamless ordering process to the easy fridge-stacking design of the packaging was thought about to make my life and your life easier. However, I know you’ll make your own mind up, as I know you know good food.
So I’ll simply say, ORDER NOW.

Will McDowell

Founder & CEO

As a former headhunter, Will has a natural eye for talent. From spotting the best suppliers to working with the best chefs, he has the highest of standards.

Having lived on 5 different continents, he has developed a true passion for exciting, authentic, tasty food. He will say he’s a dab hand in the kitchen, but he will also say he is no Michelin Star trained chef, that’s why he employs Michelin Star trained chefs.

However, he has high hopes to grow Tastily from the ground up, so you will find him working at the Tastily kitchen as a pot wash, on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Steve Bailey

Head Chef

Steve began his cookery journey working in one of the country’s top luxury hotels – The Cliveden. He then went exploring to find some of the world’s best flavours, working at some of the best kitchens, before making his way home and being hired as Head Chef by Alison Price & Company in London.

Now almost on a daily basis he somehow finds a way to slip in “did I mention I catered for the Royal Wedding?” Or “this one time I was catering for this event, just a small event… 10,000 covers. And oh Elton was there and Princess Diana I think popped in, especially for the first course I cooked.” But when he’s not name dropping or slaving away in the Tastily Kitchen, Steve runs his own, highly successful catering company, Pesto Food.

Philli Armitage-Mattin

Development Chef

Philli is a bit of a brand fiend and has developed and launched 100s of products for brands like Tesco and Starbucks in the UK as well as internationally. With a strong foundation in Michelin starred kitchens with the Gordon Ramsay group and in Tokyo & Hong Kong, it’s safe to say, or the understatement of the century, she has strong culinary skills.

And if you are still not impressed, an MSci in Chemistry has allowed her to design and launch macro-calculated restaurant concepts focusing on nutrition. A keen eye for blue sky concepts was key to working on the plant-based Wicked Kitchen range.

Our CSR Commitment

Setting up Tastily in such uncertain times has allowed us to see the bigger picture when it comes to how we feel a company should operate. We are going to start as we mean to go on in terms of corporate, social and environmental responsibility.

B Corp Pending

We are registering as B-Corp Pending, and after 12 months of trading we will then apply for full B Corp status. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. That was a bit of a mouthful, wasn't it?

Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment.

10% of our profits go to Charity

We have picked 5 amazing charities that have the same values as us and we will support them by pledging 10% of our year-end profits each year.

As we grow, our goal is to make other charitable offerings and donate meals to those who need it most. After all, good food is what brings communities together, and we look forward to making new friends. A bit soppy, but true.

Recycling and Sustainability

From the outset we have invested in the most sustainable packaging we can find. We use Evolve trays from Faerch which are made up of 85% recycled plastic, with a company mission pushing for cyclical recycling.

Our delivery boxes, insulation and branded sleeves are made from untreated Kraft / paper so can be 100% recycled.

We made sure that we chose the most environmentally conscious delivery partners, with DPD offering Carbon-Neutral delivery.

As soon as possible we want to roll out a packaging return policy, unfortunately this depends on reaching a minimum quantity requirement of 100,000 packages/year. So over to you. Sign up and get sharing.

Animal Welfare and British Farmers

Farmers are a special breed, and we love them. We only work with the best to ensure that all our red meat is 100% grass-fed, that our chickens are free-range and that our fish is from the UK.

Our mission is to build long-term relationships with local farmers and producers who adhere to ethical codes and animal welfare.
